Meet: Briccy’s at 0730; carpool/depart at 0745
Wheels down: B-52 Parking Lot at 0900
Finish: 1100

We’ll meet at Briccy’s to grab coffee and carpool as needed. From there it is on to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. We’ll enter the North Gate (a driver’s license or military ID is required) and then park in B-52 parking lot which has the very large aircraft permanently on display. Bathrooms are available here.

Route Details: 14.7 mi // 1,568 ft elevation gained

Starting at the Scout Camp / Bomber parking lot (look for a B-52 bomber on display), ride out of the parking lot and turn left onto Stadium Blvd. Travel a short distance to Parade Loop and turn right. Be on the look out for the trail off the left side of the roadway. You’ll then be riding on a short connector trail which intersects the main trail.

Once you find the trail, turn left / clockwise on the singletrack. It’s well marked, with more white Carsonite signs along the way. FYI: the first marker you will encounter will be milepost 4.  This is ok as you will circle back to the starting intersection.

The trail is 95% singletrack and all dirt with an occasionally pavement crossing. The trail covers rolling terrain, with climbs and fun descents with an occasional stream crossing and a few roads to intersect. You’ll end up generally climbing to the high point on the west side of the Academy grounds, about 1,400 feet above the start of the loop. From there, it’s mostly downhill, with a few short climbs to keep you honest that loops back around to where you started.

There are services available on the base approximately 3.0 miles into the ride where you will pass by a gas station and a Burger King. There also are bathrooms available at two other locations on the trail.

This trail is an EXCELLENT trail for a the beginners. However intermediate / advanced riders will really enjoy this trail as well.

Sites to Experience
Falcon Stadium will appear on this ride and as you pass high above the field early into this ride.  The iconic Chapel of the USAFA will be seen on occasion during the ride.  Following the ride a refueling stop might be in order. For those interested in grabbing a beer and burger there is Pikes Peak Brewing in Monument. If Mexican food is your thing, there is La Casa Fiesta in Monument. Of course, for the breakfast minded person, there is the go-to in Monument: The Coffee Cup, a locals hangout.
